Mitrais Health Talk: Cracking the A to Z of Food Hygiene and Healthy Meal Plan

Imagine swaying in your kitchen from sizzling meats on the grill to chopping bright red tomatoes, onions, and crisp lettuce. You are harmonising the knife’s tapping with the jazz music playing in the background while savouring the scent of fragrant spices that lingers in the air. Twirling to the other side of the countertop, you sprinkle some parmesan cheese to garnish the glorious pumpkin soup delight, then sip the freshly brewed coffee that has been exuding its inviting aroma. You can’t forget the finely crushed garlic and lemon juice for refreshing salad dressing to devour soon. It’s all a feast to the eyes and your palate. But before you ditch your apron and start digging, you are pondering: do these meals support my health the way I want them to? Can I prepare them faster, easier, and safer?

Food is a passionate topic that will appeal to anyone. It’s not only about the fresh ingredients or flavours, but food is also an expression of self-love that doesn’t just make you look good on the outside but also feel amazing on the inside. Yet, healthy meal prep could be challenging and feel like a chore when you have a full-time job. Thankfully, Mitrais equips its staff with the starter pack to lead a healthy life with delicious and nutritious food.

Health Talk Collaboration

As part of Mitrais’ commitment to employees’ wellness, the company recently collaborated with AXA Insurance Indonesia, Surya Husadha Hospital, Mercer Marsh Benefit, and Good Doctor to host a hybrid special happy hour from the Mitrais Bali office. Enthusiasm danced in the air that afternoon as colleagues entered the happy hour venue. It was the time of the month to put their hair down, mingle and exchange stories with colleagues while enjoying delightful refreshments. A wave of excitement filled the room as they welcomed the delegation of the health talk collaboration. Staff from Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bandung offices also tuned in on Zoom, equally excited.

Fruitful Takeaways

The featured speaker, a renowned nutritionist from Surya Husadha Hospital, Ibu Ni Nyoman Raniwati, S.Gz, or Ibu Rani for short, shared invaluable advice on how Mitrais employees can incorporate healthier eating habits into their busy time as full-time employees. The highlights of the Food Hygiene and Healthy Meal Plan presentation included numerous insightful parts.

  1. Nutrition Basics and Food Hygiene

The staff received an overview of important macronutrients — carbohydrates, proteins, and fats— and their roles in maintaining a balanced diet. The nutritionist also offered tips for food handling and storage to preserve hygiene and avoid food poisoning, ensuring every bite is not only delicious but also safe.

  1. Meal Prep Strategies

Ibu Rani spilled some time-saving techniques for meal planning, batch cooking, and food prepping to ensure a consistent supply of delicious, nutritious meals. With these tips, cooking delicious and nutritious meals is no longer a chore.

  1. Healthy Snacking

Who would say no to sweet and savoury snacks? But is it possible to make a healthier swap? Absolutely! Staff got recommendations for delicious, nutrient-dense, on-the-go snack options, such as sliced fruits with peanut butter dip or yoghurt parfait with nuts to help them power through their workdays.

  1. Personalised Meal Plans

Recognising that each person’s needs may differ, the speaker shared some practical hacks for creating customised meal plans to cater to staff’s unique dietary needs, preferences, and lifestyles.

  1. BMI Test

Ibu Rani demonstrated to the audience how to calculate their body mass to determine their ideal weight. Several staff members were invited on stage to receive personalised assistance from Bu Rani in measuring their Body Mass Index (BMI).

Q&A with a Cheerful Twist

Then came the most awaited session: the Q&A. This part of the talk was lively and engaging as the audience interactively asked questions on how to have their healthy sustenance to maintain peak performance. To add to the excitement, five lucky participants with the best questions received goodie bags from Ibu Rani and her team, making the afternoon even more fun.

Remarks from the Staff

Wayan Widya Artana, an Analyst Programmer who attended the talk at the Bali office, shared his enthusiasm for the event, “As a software engineer, I am very grateful to Mitrais for organising the health talk. Jobs that require prolonged sitting in front of a computer could lead to unhealthy habits. During the event, Bu Rani covered how to maintain proper food portions, keep our muscles active with simple workouts, and prevent issues like abdominal weight gain in men. The latter was particularly helpful for me, as I helped reduce the negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle.”

Another comment comes from I Komang Suhendra Eka Putra, Mitrais Analyst Programmer who regularly hits the gym. He wanted to verify if his protein intake habit after breaking a sweat at the gym was already on track. “Thanks to the session, I was reassured that my current practices align with my health goals,” Suhendra smiled.
